Hi five days delay due to some people not replying to their mails, so please check your mails. Here's the first round list and two more coming up.STORY 1
Genre(optional): Murder Mystery without the Murder, Romance, Family, and a little bit of everything else.
Three years have passed since the end of the war. Ozai is still in prison, Azula is still institutionalized, and the Earth King has been reinstated. There is a fragile peace in the world, and all seems well... but not for the Firelord. Despite Zuko's popularity in the Earth Kingdom, he is very much NOT popular with his countrymen. Assassination attempts, rumors of rebellion, and conspiracies from within the aristocracy are a constant problem, and he's being driven out of his mind in a hopefully amusing manner. Luckily, he has Mai there to help him with absolutely everything. Postwar troubles have brought them so close as to be completely inseparable, and at times they're the only things keeping each other sane. Unfortunately, when the arrival of Unnamed-Surprise-Maiko-Baby becomes imminent, so does the conclusion of a murder conspiracy from Zuko's own bodyguards. A mastermind from within their ranks (which sounds mysterious only because I haven't decided who it will be yet) plans to kill Zuko and Mai and set up Unnamed Baby as a puppet ruler so they can take control and restore the Fire Nation to its former "glory." But the mastermind forgets that Unnamed Baby has badass parents devoted to protecting him/her at any cost and numerous "aunts" and "uncles" who are some of the most powerful people in the world. Not to mention he overestimates the loyalty of some of his own minions...
I'm going for a generally lighthearted tone, but with angst (it is about Maiko after all).STORY 2
Summary: When Princess Ursa heard the Firelord had pronounced a death-sentence on her son, she demanded to know where the Firelord would stop with Ozai's family. She convinced Second Prince Ozai that Azulon would not stop and they could not stop him, so the royal couple took their children and fled into exile. Six years later, their tenuous peace is shattered by the arrival of two forces in Ba Sing Se: Avatar Aang and General-Prince Iroh. STORY 3: THE BLACK MASK
Characters: Mai, Zuko, Zhao, Ty Lee
Pairings: None other than Mai/Zuko.
Genre: AU - Adventure
Summary: While searching for the Avatar, Prince Zuko stops at Whale Tail Island. He meets the Governor's daughter, Mai, who shows him around the most boring Fire Nation colony in the world. But all kinds of things start happening when Captain Zhao arrives to investigate a report of an airbender living on the island, and both Mai and Zuko get pulled into his hunt.STORY 4
genre: speculative(?) philosophical(?)
theme: myth, culture and ritual healing. some politics.
summary: Mai is reluctant to marry zuko because all signs point to a possibility of her being barren. Her reluctance hurts and baffles him. she eventually comes clean, and he sends her on an unsuccessful pilgrimage to a fertility shrine, where she discovers the existance of an ancient fire nation healing (based loosely on traditional heat therapy [fire bending] and acupuncture [lightning bending]). The healing therapy is effective: it allows Zuko to find inner stability (resulting in an ability to generate his own lightning) and Mai's condition improves. They get married, and Mai gets pregnant.
Meanwhile, Azula escapes from her secure holding area and raises an army to put Ozai back on the throne. She then returns to the capital and attempts to overthrow Zuko's government. The siblings agree to settle the dispute in Agnikai. Zuko defeats her using his new zen-touched lightning and Mai gives birth to a boy (and so his crown is safe). Zuko then asks that Azula is put in the care of his fire healers, in an attempt to soothe her unsettled spirit. STORY 5
Just because things are going well doesn't mean that they aren't overwhelming. Mai's just passed the bar, Zuko's photography career is on the verge of finally taking off, and their wedding is in a few short months. With job searches, attempts to manage a business, and the ever-present specter of Mai's mother and her army of wedding planners, the pressure is building. So, when Sokka suggests to Zuko that they take a weekend roadtrip like they did back in college, Zuko jumps on it as the perfect breath of fresh of air for himself and his fiancée. Of course, Sokka intended a brotrip, one last opportunity to bond before his best friend moves on to an entirely new stage of life and leaves him behind, not the huge affair for their entire social circle that it becomes. As they all work out their current problems on the road, they remember the beginnings and progressions of their complex web of relationships. Modern AU. Mai/Zuko, Sokka/Suki, Zuko+Sokka friendship, Mai+Suki friendship, a billion other friendships. Background Aang/Katara and Ty Lee/Azula.STORY 6
Summary: A series of mini-fics showcasing the Gaang's slow but eventual realization that no, Zuko nor Mai really don't care who's in the room when they're showing the other how much they love one another. Smut, smut, and more smut.
Canon pairings, with a few hints of Sukkaoph, Tyzula, and the likeSTORY 7

While still getting used to being married and ruling the Fire Nation, Mai and Zuko receive a strange letter from what eventually turns out to be the Sun Warriors. Their presence is requested and the reason isn't disclosed, but whatever it is could mean the fate of the relationship between the Fire Nation and the Sun Warriors.
SUMMARIES of Authors who have dropped out or are not responding to PMS/missed a lot of deadlines:Tentative Title: Matched Pair
Summary: AU from the Boiling Rock. In retaliation for betraying her, Azula burns off half of Mai's face, giving her a scar to match Zuko's. Now, with the war over, Mai and Zuko try to pick up the pieces of their lives. (The fancier, non-spoilery summary will be: "Mai pays a hefty price for her betrayal of Azula, but how long will she keep paying for choosing love over fear?") Tentative Title: "An Ocean of Memories"
Ozai was proud when he learned his wife gave birth to a son. It meant a male heir for him. He gets an idea to make a match between his son and his favorite nobleman's daughter. That is, until Azula is born and becomes his favorite. Mai and Zuko grow up through much until Mai is turned from Zuko's playmate into Azula's. The Blue Spirit identity is coined as a way for Zuko to see his old playmate until time, Azula, and Mai's strict upbringing tear them apart. When he was banished, he still used the Blue Spirit as a means to see Mai until one day, he stops visiting and the Blue Spirit becomes an enemy to the Fire Nation. Recollection, and hints of child-grooming.Everything Happens in Ba Sing Se
Genre: Humor, romance, family SummaryNeither Mai nor Zuko expected life after the war to be easy; and it wasn’t. With Zuko trying to fight the prejudice against both his age and inexperience, Mai trying her best to contribute something, nurturing their own relationship and meeting the expectations placed upon them, the young couple experience stress, fatigue and the occasional fit of temper. Oh, and there was that whole thing about restoring the honour of the Fire Nation too.
It was no wonder that the young couple sought refuge in Iroh’s teashop, The Jasmine Dragon, whenever the opportunity presented itself. But no one could explain why every important event or occasion in their lives ended up happening there….in Ba Sing Se.STORY 7
Story Idea from: lavanyasix
In a world where Mai was born a poor colonial peasant girl, she found fulfillment as the youngest member EVER of the Yu Yan archers. At least until a certain blue-masked figure stole the Avatar out from under her nose and she *missed* that last shot to take him down. Canned by Zhao for 'gross incompetence', Mai dedicates herself to hunting down the only one who ever got away.
